Hi, I’m Andrew

I’m a GTCS-registered secondary teacher specialising in Chemistry and Physics, with seven years of teaching experience and four years of experience tutoring Maths.

I currently work in a specialist education setting supporting young people who have experienced barriers to mainstream education. This has shaped the way I teach: I believe learning should be adapted to the young person, rather than expecting every young person to adapt to the same way of learning.

I provide friendly, structured and flexible tuition in Chemistry, Physics and Maths. Whether a young person is working towards a qualification, learning through home education, rebuilding their confidence after time away from school, or simply needs a different approach, sessions are designed around their individual needs.

How Can I Help?

Chemistry

Support from foundational science through to National 5, Higher and GCSE Chemistry. Sessions can focus on developing understanding, calculations, problem solving, revision and exam technique.

Physics

National 5, Higher and GCSE Physics tuition designed to build understanding and confidence with both the concepts and mathematical elements of the course.

Maths

Support with National 5 Maths, Applications of Maths and GCSE Maths. Lessons use a structured and scaffolded approach, strengthening core skills before moving on to more challenging problems.

Home Education

Flexible daytime learning that can complement your existing home-education programme or provide more structured support in STEM subjects.

Learning That Fits the Learner

There isn’t one teaching method that works for every young person.

Some learners benefit from clear routines and structure. Others need movement breaks, visual explanations, practical examples, additional processing time or the freedom to explore a topic in a different way.

Before tuition begins, I take time to understand the young person: what they enjoy, what they find difficult, what has worked previously and, equally importantly, what hasn’t.

From there, we can build an approach that works for them.

Build confidence. Develop skills. Discover what you’re capable of.
